This section of our Permaculture Design Course focuses on the social and economic aspects of permaculture design that will help develop regenerative communities and economies both of which are integral to a healthy social system. We will cover the process of accessing land, how to organize your community, decentralized economic systems, and ways to practice outreach to continue building your permaculture network beyond this course. The course includes hands-on learning opportunities including a trip to a local intentional community. By the end of this course, you will be able to apply permaculture ethics to your own life and create ripples of positive social change throughout your community and the world.

Our Permaculture Design Course is an experiential and applicable program that will teach you how to design abundant and regenerative systems for your home, garden, community, and beyond. This course will include four separate sections; Introduction to Permaculture, Community Building, Edible Landscapes, and Homesteading 101. Throughout these sections, you'll learn about the principles and techniques of permaculture design, including rainwater harvesting, composting, soil building, livestock management, natural building, and more. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process of designing your permaculture system, tailored to your specific needs and environment. This is your first step towards designing a thriving and resilient permaculture system!

This course will cover the social and economic aspects of the design process that will help develop sustainable communities and productive economies both of which are integral to a healthy Permaculture system. We will cover the process of finding and purchasing land, the basics of community organization and ways to practice outreach to continue building your Permaculture network as you move forward.

In conjunction with Design Elements or on its own, this course will equip you with the necessary skills to physically build a Permaculture Design. We will cover the tools and techniques that are crucial to Permaculture design including microclimates, design methodology and cultivated ecologies along with physical tools such as hoop houses, greenhouses and A-frames.

Throughout this course we will cover the elements of design such as water, earthworks and building healthy soils as well as the basics of incorporating animals into your system. These elements are essential to understanding how a Permaculture system works and will help inform your design process — no matter how big or small the project.

Fundamentals of Permaculture will inform students of the basics of Permaculture including but not limited to the origin, ethics and principles. As well as an introduction to our local ecosystem here in Massachusetts and the vital concepts of zones and patterns. This is a great course for anyone interested in Permaculture, lifestyle design, sustainability or other related topics.
